
Salma Hayek Pinault born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jamesenez , on September 2, 1966, is an American and Mexican actress and producer. Her career started in Mexico, where she starred in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991), and the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995), which earned her an Ariel Award nomination. With roles in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999), she quickly made herself a household name in Hollywood. Hayek's portrayal of Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002), which she also co-produced in the film, resulted in Hayek the first Mexican actress to win the Academy Award [6]. It also earned her an Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to make films her films, and also starred in action-oriented films like Once Upon a Time in Mexico later on in her career.
